This morning, AOL Latino broke the announcement that Colombian rock idol Juanes was alleged to have dismissed long-time manager Fernan Martinez, suspended pending tour dates and gone into early retirement.
The singer confirmed the allegations moments ago through his Twitter page, suspending his Latin American tour and cancelling three shows in the United States. The rock icon has also chosen to take a temporary break from his music career.
The singer also confirmed that July tour dates in Spain will go on as scheduled. He said his hiatus is to dedicate time to family and not to engage in politics, as some sources close to the singer told AOL Latino.
"A mere three concerts were cancelled in the U.S. With vigor, we will be in Spain in July! ... The rest of the Latin American tour will be scheduled later without fail! ... It's true that my professional relationship with Fernan [Martinez] has ended. It's false that I will dedicate myself to politics, which really is a joke," the singer said, calling the assumption a distortion of information given to AOL Latino.
"It's true that I experienced a difficult moment with this [latest] album, but it's false that that was the only reason," the singer said, alluding to suspicion that lower sales of his album 'P.A.R.C.E.' were the single cause of his decision to lay low.
"Exhaustion comes with ramifications of all types. For all the love and respect I have for my fans, here I give them the truth. I love you all very much!," concludes the tweet and confirms what AOL Latino reported first.
This isn't the first time Juanes has dropped off the radar. In 2006, the singer took a year-long sabbatical in 2006, citing the need to spend time with his wife, model Karen Martinez, and his daughters, Luna and Paloma.
Fernan Martinez was not only instrumental to Juanes's success, but that of father and son Julio and Enrique Iglesias. Martinez was also responsible for Cristina Saralegui's development, and since he joined forces with Juanes, he dedicated himself body and soul to the rock singer.
