A few days ago on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' a parody on the success of 'Captain America' was born, using the oddball and always amusing Guillermo, one of Kimmel's trusty comic foils of Mexican descent on the show.
Enter 'Captain Mexico,' where in place of super soldier Chris Evans emerges Guillermo with an outfit representing the colors of the Mexican flag. The guard appears in a "sketch" that has angered many Mexicans, to the point of appearing on TV Azteca's national news program, where they lambasted the sketch saying, "Once again they laugh at Mexicans." Many cry foul, wondering if it was meant to be a joke, or whether the joke went a bit too far and borders on offensive.
Interweaving scenes from the Marvel comics film, Guillermo interacts with actors, who give him a choice of shields. The first is the standard shield, which Guillermo rejects immediately. Then Captain Mexico is offered a trash can lid, and later a gigantic pizza. Finally Captain Mexico is offered a Mexican mariachi hat, which deflects bullets, much like the shield used in 'Captain America.'
Later Captain Mexico uses his best attack method in front of a Mexican flag, where he then encounters not one but three characters representing Adolf Hitler, who Guillermo takes down with his mariachi hat.
The sketch ignited the fury of many Mexicans, with some media outlets calling it yet another jab at the Latino group. Still others insist the sketch was an innocent parody that wasn't intended to incite anger.
It stands to bear that this isn't the first time a foreign television show ignites controversy in Mexico. A few months ago, the British show 'Top Gear' outraged many within the Mexican community, after the show poked fun at an automobile built in Mexico. For many, of course, it was just another joke under a different context.

Im not against the sketch,but as something to laugh at,it stinks.They should have made him have magic powers after he ate a bowl of rice and beans or a nasty burrito.Give him a secret hideout with ten other captains in a cheap hotel room.Have him jump a fence at the border and avoid the his evil arch enemies ,the MIGRAS.

That was funny as hell! Bad taste? Where? He defeated 3 Hitlers, it took the Allies years to do the same, if you want to be picky, so he's a hero. As for the sombrero, FUNNY!Lighten up, people.And watch a Cheech & Chong movie.
