SAO PAULO -- This weekend, the Credicard Hall was dressed to kill for a gala of epic proportions, much like how it will be on Monday, when the world takes center stage for the coronation of the queen of the universe -- Miss Universe 2011.

In the preliminary competition leading up to Monday's main event, the jury chose its 15 semifinalists, a decision kept in strict confidence, that will be announce during the live, global broadcast on NBC and Telemundo, beginning at 9 p.m. (EST)

AOL Latino editors have cast their own selections on who could be among the lucky 15 semifinalists to vie for the thrown as the reigning Miss Universe 2011.

Actually after looking at the pictures all have something special misses, but Costa Rica has a special freshness remember that this contestant is just 20 years and it shows with a sculpted body, Miss Panama Jan shows great maturity and poise modeling a Latin American style returns only hope insured among the finalists and remember this is not a battle but rather a union between our peoples
