This year's nominees were an ecclectic mix of entertainers who represent those Latinos of multiple cultures, particularly those born either in the United States of Latino descent, or those Latinos who proudly call America home. All celebrate the spirit of Hispanic heritage.
This year's biggest night on television showcasing Latinos took place Saturday, September 10th at the Santa Monica Civic Auditoriu m in California.
ALMA (American Latino Media Arts) is unlike any other awards ceremony because it embodies not only the accomplishments of top Latinos in music, television and film, but also celebrates the Latino spirit invoked in the entertainment industry.
The purpose of the awards show is to honor those entertainers in the Latino community who aren't just role models, but those who thrust Hispanics into the public's consciousness. Winners are the chosen few who represent that goal best by accurately promoting Hispanic culture in the media in a fair and positive way.
