'Evita,' the musical Ricky Martin's got in his hands until 2012, now has a debut date of April 5 at the Marquis Theater on Broadway. That's right, Broadway.
The show runs until March 12 the following year.
The musical, which also stars Argentine Elena Roger as Evita and Michael Cerveris as Peron, marks the Puerto Rican heartthrob's return to Broadway, after his role in the 1996 run of 'Les Miserables.'
Ricky Martin will play the role of controversial guerrilla leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara, previously portrayed by Antonio Banderas in the cinematic version of the film, which starred Madonna.
Guevara's character plays a significant role in the unraveling of the play.

The musical tells the Argentine story of an aspiring actress, Eva Duarte, who utilized her beauty and charisma to a meteoric rise from suburban Argentina to the presidential mansion as the First Lady and wife of President Juan Domingo Peron.
Having already become Eva Peron, she won international admiration and her subjects idolized her as a hero, becoming a historic, and controversial, political celebrity and beloved by the lower class and reviled by the upper crust.
'Evita' the play tells the tragic and passionate story of Eva through a dazzling soundtrack that includes songs such as, 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina,' 'Another Suitcase in Another Hall,' 'High Flying Adores' and 'You Must Love Me,' a song that won an Oscar in the soundtrack to the cinematic version of the musical.
Although the musical debuts in April, tickets for 'Evita' go on sale Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. (EST).
