Venezuela crowned Miss World 2011
The final showdown for Miss World 2011, in which 120 aspiring beauties compete for the title held by American Alexandria Mills, took place Sunday in London.
Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Philippines, South Korea, South Africa, Scotland and England, were among the seven finalists, from which a top three was selected: the Philippines, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.
So after hearing the names of Gwendoline Ruais of the Philippines and Amanda Perez of Puerto Rico, as second and third place respectively, we learned the name of the new sovereign: 21-year-old Lunasol Ivian Sarcos Colmenares, a Venezuelan with a degree in Human Resources.
Among the noted details highlighted by the press was Ivian's response to one jury question, saying "the next Miss World should be a sensitive woman, responsible and committed to the organization, whose goal here is to work for people who need us. Beauty with a heart. "
Ivian's triumph marks the sixth time Venezuela has won the Miss World crown. Other Venezuelans who came before her include, Carmen Susana Duijim Zubillaga (1955), Carmen (1955), Carmen Josefina Leon Crespo 'Pilín León' (1981), Astrid Carolina Herrera Irrazábal (1984), Ninibeth Beatriz Leal Jiménez (1991) and Jacqueline María Aguilera Marcano (1995).
Perhaps the most enduring image of the Miss World pageant was 40 years ago in London, in which angry feminists stormed the venue and celebrity guests were pelted with eggs and rotten tomatoes. Forty years ahead, the protest was more muted, as Venezuela's Sarcos Colmenares, an aspiring social activist, was crowned Miss World. A group of women gathered outside Earl's Court in West London to protest against the "objectification" of the female body. They raised slogans and waved banners, one of which read: "We're not ugly, We're not beautiful, We're angry.'' Another said: "Miss World is the jewel in the crown of rape culture.''

Why cant protesters protest things that actually really matter in the world. Of course it matters to them but in the larger scope of things, of life on earth, a simple beauty pageant is so insignifigant in the universe.

10 million females in the US have eating disorders. Most women in the US dislike their appearance. Most women in the US have been on at least one weight loss diet, and half at any time are dieting. Dieting is considered disordered eating, and is the gateway to eating disorders, according to the National Eating Disorders Assocation.
In the US, teen girls have replaced low-income people as the demographic group with the highest rate of nutritional deficiencies, and not mildly so.
Many teen girls, whose normal growth pattern is to build their bones fully during their teen years, are in fact getting osteoporosis due to lack of food intake coupled with over-exercising for weight loss.
The average age of death for females with eating disorders is 35.
Children are entering eating disorder hospitals as young as age 5.
Please go to YouTube and search for the videos for "Fat Talk Free Week" for statistics on the percent of women and girls who would rather be hit by a truck than gain weight.
This is not only a health risk, but a life and death matter for far too many females.
And 1 in 3 women are raped in their lifetimes: because boys and men are trained to regard and treat women as objects, and girls and women are trained to regard themselves and behave as nothing but objects.
Look at the proportion of young women who feel obliged to take off their shirts for loser-scumbags making "Girls gone wild" videos. They have been trained like poodles to serve men sexually. Look at all the women who feel obliged to pose for Playboy, or who make their living in the sex (rape) trade: because that is how they have been raised to see themselves. Girls and women with no self-esteem, and who can't support themselves otherwise. On average, men still earn 30% more than women per hour.
Your ignorance is staggering. Read a damn feminist book, and pull your head out, you lousy excuse for a man. You're just wasting space and resources on this planet.
