Catholic priest turned-Episcopalian cleric Albert "Padre Alberto" Cutie and his wife, Guatemalan Ruhama B. Cutie, are announcing their second pregnancy. "We consider it a gift from baby Jesus that we are expecting another child at such a special time in our lives," Padre Alberto told Peopleenespanol.com. "It is the best Christmas present we could receive."
The baby, whose sex will be determined mid-January, is the second for the couple, who married in 2009 after the then-Catholic priest broke away from the church to become an Episcopalian and marry his 37-year-old wife. The couple already has a daughter together, Camila Victoria, who is 1. Christian Norton, 17, Ruhama's son and Padre Alberto's stepson, is from a previous marriage.
"Christian is very enthusiastic; he's the first person we told," Padre Alberto said.
The family also has another reason to celebrate this new year. Padre Alberto's second bestseller, 'Dilemma: A Priest's Struggle with Faith and Love,' launches January 3 on paperback after publishing on Jan. 4, 2011.
Cutie caused both outrage and empathy over the Catholic Church's vow of celibacy after images surfaced of him kissing Ruhama Buni Canellis in a public beach in 2009. Cutie took a leave of absence from the church shortly after and was received by the Episcopalian Church, which allows its priests to marry. He has been an Episcopalian priest since May 2010.
About the success of 'Dilemma' he writes:
"There are positive and negative reactions, variations. I speak of the amount of priests that have written me daily, telling me 'We identify with the book, your message and your life.' Some remain in the Catholic church or, like me, serve another church."
Holy Moly Mother Helen, let it go with the English lessons. If one person can understand another person, who gives a rat's ass about grammer, spelling or punctuation?
It is not odd. The Episcopal Church looks close like a Roman Catholic Church. They even call their priest, father. I am a Lutheran and the church I go to, almost half of the members are ex-Catholics. There is even a large crucifix right at the altar. I even wear a small crucifix on a chain. They pick a church close to the Catholic Church. The Eastern Catholic Church allows their priests to marry. This church is not the Orthodox Church.
Because the catholic church does not follow the biblical teachings concerning being a priest. Nowhere in the Bible does it say priests should be celibate, in fact the Aaronic priests were married and had children. One would think that by now, with all the problems the catholic church has had with priests not being able to remain celibate they would go back to the biblical standard.Catholics have alot of extra biblical teachings, which God warns us, do not add or subtract one jot or tittle from His word.
When Henry VIII broke England away from Rome the Anglican Church was created. The Episcopal church formed from the Anglican in America. Episcopalians even refer to themselves as "backdoor Catholics."
I am amazed how some people keep to the same old uninformed biases against the teachings of the Catholic Church. Clerical celibacy is a discipline that can change if the church decides. It does not have to be based in scripture. Yes the Temple priests were married, but did not St. Paul say the best way to live is as a celibate.
They're also jestingly called, "Catholic Light." But, seriously, if Catholic Priests were allowed to have their own familes, maybe they would leave little boys alone. The Vatican is afraid it will lose money, if Priests marry. The Priests heirs would get his money, instead of the Bishops or the Pope.
how sad it is when the name of the game is forgiveness and redemption that people look at a man as a disgrace, and it is beyond his control... the vow of chastity is a denial of one's own humanity... self sacrifice can equate to self torture too...
Very well put. Maybe the church looks on him as being disgraced but I do not. After all God put us here to be happy and flourish. I wish the Padre well and a Merry Christmas to him and his family. Jesus is the reason for the season and love was his message:)

"Episcopalian" is a noun. "Episcopal" is the adjective form of that noun. He is an EPISCOPAL priest. He became an EPISCOPALIAN.
