After a great 2011 in which he took part in the Pedro Almodovar film 'The Skin I Live In,' the grand success of 'Puss in Boots' and the recent debut of 'Haywire,' Antonio Banderas has no time to rest, especially after signing on the dotted line on a project he is very excited about.
It has been confirmed that the Spaniard has been cast as Pablo Picasso in the movie '33 Days.'
Quoted in the Spanish newspaper El Pais, Banderas said: "Picasso is a character that has haunted me for a long time and I always refused him. He no doubt deserves plenty of respect because I'm from Malaga and was born four blocks from where he was born."
The biopic will focus on how Picasso painted his masterpiece 'Guernica,' a mural that took the master abstract artist 33 days to complete. The film is directed by Carlos Saura and is expected to begin shooting this summer.
