After Nicholas "Colate" Najera surprised the world by recounting through a magazine that he was separated from Paulina Rubio http://iconos.aollatino.com/icono/paulina-rubio/, no one imagined the scandal that would lead to such an announcement, where they began to air out their dirty laundry about their last five years of marriage.
As AOL Latino reported, it was Colate who filed for divorce in a Miami-Dade court where surprisingly he asked, among other things, for child support for him and primary custody of their son, Andrea Nicholas, alleging that he is the one who takes care of the boy.
Before that, Paulina, who up to now had only asked for respect for her privacy and that of her son, responded to the divorce filing through her attorneys and opened a great, big door into the intimate details of her marriage, where she confirmed that her estranged husband never worked, did not bring in any income to the home and that one of their main problems during their marriage was the constant calls the singer made for her husband to work, even helping him obtain a green card to work in the United States. AOL Latino obtained access to the court documents, in which Paulina Rubio detailed her response.
-It is impossible that debts and assets that were acquired in the marriage be split evenly because there is an existing prenuptial agreement the plaintiff failed to acknowledge.
-Paulina said that it is untrue that Colate was solely responsible for looking after their soon the majority of the time, only a few hours, and that she had to hire an assistant because he wasted too much time in his leisure activities, instead of looking for gainful employment.
-Paulina is asking that Colate contribute monetarily in supporting their son and denies that he contributed to her success as a recording artist, or as a consultant and advisor, alleging that to gain access to her finances.
-Paulina denies he had a successful business before marrying her because he never helped support the family. She said that they always had problems because he refused to look for any type of work, even though she helped him obtain a green card.
-Paulina asks for sole custody of their child and that the court should decide when Colate should see him.
-Claims that she covers all of her son's needs, including medical insurance, and that his son does not contribute toward supporting Andrea Nicholas.
COLATE'S DIVORCE DEMANDS
-Paulina is a recognized international artist who, because of her career, is absent the majority of the time from Florida, where the couple resides and he is left in charge of their son. Colate alleges that when Paulina is home, she wakes at 12 in the afternoon, and that he is the one left in charge of their son until she wakes up.
-He said that because both parties have sufficient economic solvency, both should share child support.
-Colate requests that Paulina take out a life insurance policy in which the beneficiary is the child and he manages it as the boy's father, in the event of Paulina's death.
-That all assets and debts the couple has incurred throughout the marriage be divided equally.
-Colate is asking for temporary or permanent custody because he says that in the five years they were married, he contributed to Paulina's success as a confidant, consultant and advisor.
-He said he was a successful entertainment mogul who had established his own marketing company and that Paulina insisted that he leave it to help her run her career.
-Colate said that through their marriage he enjoyed a life of luxury, staying in five-star hotels, even traveling in private planes -- a lifestyle he wishes to maintain.
